The Council of Europe's language policy specialists have developed a <em>Common European Framework of Reference for Languages<\/em> (EEOC), excerpts of which may be helpful in the initial assessment of the level of linguistic competence of candidates for certification examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scales of the CEF provide a benchmark for assessing language proficiency in terms of examination requirements. Candidates interested in the certification examinations can consult the language proficiency scales below.
