From 1 July 2025, the provisions are changing Laws on the Polish language. According to the regulations in force as of that date, persons who:
- have obtained the degree of doctor on the basis of a doctoral dissertation written and defended in the Polish language in a higher education institution or an entity operating in the higher education and science system of the Republic of Poland.
(REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: Doctoral diploma and certificate from the university, confirming that the doctoral dissertation was written and defended in Polish.);
- have graduated from a tertiary programme taught in Polish in a higher education institution operating within the higher education and science system of the Republic of Poland;

- received a secondary school certificate in the educational system of the Republic of Poland.

The certificate can also be awarded to those who have completed:
- school at the diplomatic representations, consular offices and military representations of the Republic of Poland;
(REQUIRED DOCUMENT: Certificate of completion of supplementary education in general secondary education);
- a school in a country other than Poland in which they have studied the Polish language and other subjects in that language and have completed secondary education;
(REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: Diploma of secondary education obtained in a school with Polish as the language of instruction functioning in the educational system of another country together with sworn translation of documents into Polish);
- European School and have a European Baccalaureate diploma, including the result of an examination in Polish as a mother tongue,
(DOCUMENT REQUIRED: European School Leaving Certificate with European Baccalaureate Diploma);
- a form of education provided by a social organisation registered abroad or by another foreign entity in which teaching of the Polish language or other subjects in the Polish language is provided abroad. A necessary condition is to have been taught the Polish language or other subjects in the Polish language for at least 11 years;

PLEASE NOTE: completion of post-secondary school and post-graduate studies does not entitle you to receive a certificate without examination.
